What is Nolvadex by Novo-Pharm?
Nolvadex, or Tamoxifen Citrate, is a popular drug used in post-cycle therapy by athletes.
Being a SERM, Nolvadex can act as estrogen or block hormone actions in different tissues. When it comes to aromatization, Nolvadex will counter it, mitigating the risks of gynecomastia or other estrogenic side effects.
Nolvadex Benefits
Athletes can use Novo-pharm Nolvadex to remove excess fat deposits when on a low-calorie diet, increase muscle mass development and stop the already observable adverse reactions associated with steroids.
The main effects of the use of the drug are:
- Restored endogenous testosterone production;
- Blocked estrogen activity throughout the body, including hypothalamus and pituitary gland;
- Fluid retention, swelling prevention, and minimized setbacks;
- Increased amount of high-density cholesterol in the bloodstream – the accumulation of "good" cholesterol over "bad" cholesterol.
In addition, Novo-Pharm Nolvadex vcan:
- Preventing and treat gynecomastia: Nolvadex can alleviate the risks of gynecomastia development and treat this disorder in the early stages;
- Mitigate estrogenic side effects: water retention and weight gain can also be avoided due to the Nolvadex administration;
- Restore testosterone levels: the drug is widely used in PCT, returning testosterone endogenous production to normal;
- Enhance LH production: LH can activate Leydig’s cells, resulting in higher testosterone levels.
Novo-pharm Nolvadex is relatively mild, the highest concentration of estrogen occurs in the liver cells, which is generally beneficial for the body. This antiestrogen greatly increases the amount of testosterone in athletes.
Studies have shown that if the athlete uses the drug at 20 mg daily for 10 days straight, the concentration of testosterone is increased by 42% compared to the endogenous levels. The main male hormone level is raised by 83% if the drug has been used for more than 1.5 months.
The drug is administered orally, making the therapy easier for people who prefer tablets to injections.
Nolvadex Side Effects
Nolvadex can still lead to a number of side effects, given its efficacy. These effects are often caused by the drug's antiestrogenic properties Failure to maintain the prescribed dosages and/or the length of use in women may cause negative side effects in the form of partial loss of hair or complete baldness, hot flashes throughout the body, genital itching, pain in the bones.
Common side effects may include:
- Hot flashes;
- Gastrointestinal disorders;
- Nausea;
- Headaches;
- Fatigue and dizziness;
- Edema or rashes;
- Hair thinning;
- Muscle spasm;
- Visual disorders;
- Thrombosis.
Male athletes may encounter rises in body temperature, nausea, dizziness. Due to fluid retention in the body, normal kidney function may be compromised. Many people may experience severe headaches, anxiety, and somnolence.
Nolvadex can cause digestive disorders in the form of constipation or anorexia as well as potential fatigue. Other negative effects include eye swelling, cataracts, partial and total vision loss.
The antiestrogen increases the amount of progesterone receptors, which is why if the cycle contained anabolic progesterone medications such as trenbolone and nandrolone, it is not approved for use during a drug cycle or PCT. Using trenbolone and nandrolone after Nolvadex leads to prolactin gynecomastia.
It is advised to stop using Nolvadex immediately and substitute it with another antiestrogen such as Clomid or Toremifene to reduce side effects (the latter is a modified version of Nolvadex).
Nolvadex Contraindications
Nolvadex can’t be used by people who have been diagnosed with severe hepatic or cardiovascular problems. Due to possible visual impairment, individuals prone to visual disorders should be discouraged from using Nolvadex as well.
Nolvadex Dosage
The recommended dosage for PCT varies between 10–40 mg per day, with a cycle length of 2–4 weeks. One of the most common schemes for Nolvadex administration is:

Difference Between Nolvadex and Aromatase Inhibitors
Aromatase Inhibitors prevent testosterone conversion completely and reduce estrogen levels. Nolvadex doesn’t reduce estrogen levels but simply blocks the hormone from accessing specific receptors.
Since Nolvadex can’t crash estrogen levels, it doesn’t pose a threat to bone density and can be used by athletes with injuries or vitamin D deficiencies.
